I have a company in the UK producing high quality, silver jewelry. I’d like to sell my products in Russia. Can you advise me on the steps I would have to take to become an importer to Russia?

First you will need to think about the form your business will take in Russia. Jewelry trading is not licensed but is subject to specific registration (this is a recently introduced change, intended to facilitate the setting up of a business). Then there will be a requirement to obtain registration and for constant communication with the State Hallmark Agency. There will also be certain requirements regarding the premises you use, and other relevant obligations to be met when trading jewelry. You should be prepared to undertake some significant preparatory work before you are able to operate in the Russian market.  But, it is not unduly onerous, and of course the RR will be happy to assist.
